Hillside Park in Newark, Delaware opened at the end of 2021. It’s located at 103 Hillside Road, Newark, Delaware.
The park includes a playground, two pavilions, a paved walking trail, a pond, and pier. There’s on street parking available, just watch for two hour time limits on some streets surrounding the park.
The playground at Hillside Park has two main sections. There’s a rubber surface playground with rope climbers and slides.
The centerpiece of this playground section is the 24-foot blue slide for older children. A large rope section leads to the slide. For younger children, there are two smaller slides which descend a small hill.
This area of the playground also features a merry-go-round that’s even with the ground, as well as kid-size and regular-size picnic tables.
The natural playground sits a bit beyond the other playground. It includes a rope obstacle course and a giant spider web around a mature tree.
This area of the playground has some natural shade, as it was created under some existing trees.
Hillside Park Walking Path
The walking path around the perimeter of the park is paved. It’s about a quarter mile in length, and it passes the pond in the middle of the park.
When we visited, geese and a swan were enjoying the pond. There is a pier connected to the walking path to get a better view of the pond.
Hillside Park Pavilions
There are two pavilions at the park with picnic tables and shade. The smaller of the two pavilions includes two picnic tables, while the other pavilion has four picnic tables.
Hillside Park Restrooms
When we visited, there was only a porta-potty available that sat close to the entrance of the playground.
