Wilderness at the Smokies is a resort conveniently located just north of the popular vacation destinations of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
The resort includes two outdoor waterparks, an indoor waterpark, and many additional activities, amenities, and dining options.
Wilderness at the Smokies Lodging
There are several lodging options at the Wilderness at the Smokies resort. The River Lodge suites are centrally located to the waterparks and activities. A variety of suite sizes are available for up to 15 guests.
The resort also features Wilderness Villas which have full kitchens and living spaces. Another lodging option is Stone Hill Lodge, which is across the driveway from the River Lodge, and has its own outdoor waterpark.
River Lodge has bunk bed suites for traveling families. These suites have their own televisions for each section of the room, which are split with a partial wall between the bedrooms.
Wild WaterDome – Indoor Waterpark
The main attractions of Wilderness at the Smokies are the waterparks. There’s three waterparks located throughout the resort. One waterpark is indoors, Wild WaterDome, and it’s perfect for the rainy or cold days while on vacation.
The Wild WaterDome has a shallow kiddie area with small slide and swings. For older kids, there’s also a large wave pool, slides, and surf rider.
Even though it’s an indoor waterpark, there’s also a covered outdoor pool with basketball hoops.
Slides at Wild WaterDome include tube slides, a family raft slide, and a multi-level water play structure with slides and a tipping bucket.
Lake Wilderness – Outdoor Waterpark
Lake Wilderness outdoor waterpark is located in the center of the River Lodge. It’s accessed through doors in the main lobby area.
Lake Wilderness includes Treehouse Springs, a kiddie area with five slides, over-water swings, and geysers. The water at Treehouse Springs is very shallow and has a zero-depth entry.
The large slides at Lake Wilderness include mat racers, a large tube boomerang slide, and a drop slide.
The lazy river flows through the wave pool, so tubes are available in the wave pool to ride the waves. The waves turn on and off at set intervals.
Several types of cabanas are available at the Lake Wilderness outdoor waterpark. Cabana Forest features climate-controlled cabanas with TVs. Additional cabanas are located beside the wave pool access, and indoor cabanas are available at the indoor waterpark.
