Hotel Hershey vs Hershey Lodge – Discover the Differences

It can be a difficult decision to choose between the Lodge and the Hotel, as both provide unique experiences. Let’s break down how they are different, and how they are similar – Hotel Hershey vs Hershey Lodge. Then, you can make the best decision for your family. A summary of the main differences is available at the bottom of this post.

Arrival Experience

Upon arrival, both the Hotel Hershey and Hershey Lodge offer free parking. However, only the Hotel Hershey offers valet parking service.

At check in, both resorts provide free tickets to Hershey Gardens and Hershey Story (these tickets will be good for approximately a five day period.) They both also give you a sweet surprise!

The Hershey Story and Hershey Gardens have particular hours, so be sure to check their websites or the information sheet the resorts provide to plan your visit.

Lobby

Both lobbies provide a beautiful and welcoming experience. Fresh flowers typically adorn both lobbies.

If you’re looking for a space to lounge, Hershey Lodge provides plenty of lobby seating. There’s comfy chairs for relaxing before or after a trip to the park.

In the Hershey Lodge Lobby, there’s also a four-sided fireplace. This is a popular hang out, especially during the winter months. Grab a drink from the Cocoa Beanery or the resort bar and relax by the fire.

Food

Both resorts have a wide variety of food options. While the Hotel Hershey is fancier and a little less kid-friendly, both the Lodge and Hotel Hershey both have cafes to grab snacks and specialty drinks.

Hershey Lodge and Hershey Hotel both have indoor and outdoor pools with poolside snacks to fuel up while at the pool. Both also have a selection of sit down restaurants. Hershey Lodge has a new casual restaurant called Stacks. Hershey Hotel has three upscale restaurants, the Circular, Harvest, and an Italian restaurant, Trevi 5.

Rooms

The two resorts have a wide range of rooms including the king bed guests and the two queen beds. Both resorts supply chocolate-scented bath products, towels, and other necessities.

Pools

Pools are available at both resorts. The Hershey Hotel has an outdoor pool on the grounds of the resort; it’s located just past the gardens. The pool has two body slides and a big open pool.

There’s also an adult pool and hot tub at the Hotel Hershey. Cabanas are available for daily rental a the adult pool, as well as the main pool.

The Hotel Hershey indoor pool features a small splash pad and hot tub.

Hershey Lodge also has an indoor water play area called Water Works. This indoor are has a toddler play structure with slides, two body slides and an activity pool.

They also have a Reese’s Water Walk, floating dolphins to play on, and basketball hoops.

The Hershey Lodge also has a seasonal outdoor pool and mini golf course.

Shopping

Inside both resorts, there are several shops to explore. Hershey-branded gifts are available, as well as snacks. The Hotel Hershey features a few boutique stores, which sell men’s and women’s clothing, jewelry and toys.

Activities

Both resorts have a wide range of different activities for kids. At Hershey Lodge there are character appearances, S’mores roasting, animal encounters, chocolate bingo, and more!

At Hershey Hotel, there are different types of sports activities you can do including basketball, volleyball, cornhole. It’s easy to miss the variety of sports courts available at The Hotel Hershey, as they are tucked in a corner, down a slope.

There are also hiking trails, a putting course, chocolate bingo, and S’mores roasting.

Benefits – Hotel Hershey vs Hershey Lodge

Both resorts give you tickets to Hershey Gardens and Hershey Story. There are packages that you can buy that have Hersheypark tickets, too. At Hershey Hotel there is a spa that you can go to in the hotel. At the Lodge there is a MeltSpa which is not attached, but is close to the Lodge.

Main Differences – Hotel Hershey vs Hershey Lodge

The Hotel Hershey has a large outdoor pool, while Hershey Lodge has the indoor water park.

The Hotel Hershey has an onsite spa, and Hershey Lodge guests may visit Melt Spa in downtown Hershey.

Hershey Lodge has mini golf, while the Hotel Hershey has an 18-hole all-grass putting course.

Hershey Lodge has a basketball, tennis, and pickle ball court. The Hotel Hershey has a large sports area with tennis, basketball, sand volleyball, bocce ball, a football / soccer small field, spike ball, cornhole, and walking trails.

Both resorts have upscale dining options, while The Hershey Lodge has the Bear’s Den, a sports-themed and kid-friendly restaurant.

The Hotel Hershey has Cocoa Clubhouse which offers Kids’ Night Out sitting services at an extra charge.
