Annmarie Sculpture Garden is located at 13470 Dowell Road in Solomons, Maryland. Solomons is located in southern Maryland, south of Prince Frederick, along Route 4 in Calvert County.
The garden has specific hours, so be sure to check their website before visiting. Donations are accepted inside the main exhibit building, and at the Welcome Booth near the entrance to the outdoor exhibits and children’s garden. A donation of $5 per person is suggested.
Fairly Lolly
Most of the exhibits and the children’s’ garden, Fairy Lolly, are under the shade of tall trees. The floor of Fairy Lolly is a carpet of pine needles, but it’s compacted enough to push jogging strollers on it.
Colorful elements for children’s play is available in the Fairy Lolly. Painted stepping logs sprinkled throughout the pine trees are fun for skipping and jumping.
The Fairy Lolly features many whimsical structures, like a carriage with blue unicorns. There’s also one of the favorites, a dirt / stone / mud kitchen with its own menu posted for orders.
After playing in the Fairy Lolly, there’s a short, paved walking path around the outside art sculptures. The sculpture garden path includes the Demas Family Discovery Garden and the Tree-mendous trail.
The Sculpture Garden
In this area, about halfway through the paved trail, there’s a water fountain and colorful rocking chairs to relax by the creek.
After viewing the art work, there more art and children’s activities inside the John Dennis Murray Arts Building. This building is beside the main parking lot.
The building contains more exhibits and works of art. It is a two-story building with an elevator available to get to the second floor. In the back corners of the first floor contain the artLAB and Nature Nook.
The Nature Nook has several critters for kids to observe. There’s also a magnification station to examine the natural world.
Another fun area inside the building is the artLAB. The artLAB encourages creative reuse of materials for creating works of art. This area isn’t just for kids. Adults can take part in projects in this lab, too!
