While restaurants are not typically covered on this site, this particular one caters to children with a pirate ship playset. Not only that, but there are restaurant tables which overlook the playground. These spots are perfect for watching the kids play while waiting on their food.
Coconut Joe’s Bar and Grill is located at 48 South River Road in Edgewater. The restaurant has a view of the South River.
There’s a selection of areas for seating. There are indoor, high top tables, regular tables outdoors with a water view, and picnic tables on the side porch overlooking the playground.
The pirate ship play area is located at the side of the restaurant. It’s surrounded by sand, and Coconut Joe’s asks that kids keep their shoes on to play on the wooden pirate ship.
There are two slides attached to the pirate ship, as well as different levels of the pirate ship to climb. Surrounding the pirate ship there are some additional chairs with umbrellas for shade.
There’s also chairs seats overlooking the river, as well as a lower section of restaurant tables.
The menu is fairly expansive, and includes six choices for kids meals. My kids really enjoyed the mac and cheese. There are also kids menu staples like chicken tenders and buttered noodles. We ordered some boneless wings as an appetizer, and they were quite tasty.
