Ben & Jerry’s Factory Tour is located in Waterbury, Vermont, which is just east of Burlington. The address is 1281 Waterbury-Stowe Road. Factory tours can be reserved online, and it is best to reserve them ahead, as they often sell out.
When arriving at Ben & Jerry’s, there’s plenty of parking, and some parking is available up the hill from the factory. The Flavor Graveyard is located at the top of the hill near the parking. This graveyard features some of the retired flavors that Ben & Jerry’s no longer offers.
Inside the building, there’s a small gift shop located at the start of the tour. Be sure to check in for your tour time in this area a few minutes early.
Once the tour begins, you’ll be escorted by your tour guide to a small theatre to learn about the history of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. The film is short, maybe five minutes or so. Then, you’ll head to windows overlooking the factory floor.
While they have long hours for their manufacturing, they cannot guarantee that manufacturing will be happening during your visit. There are videos which also help you see the process and learn about certain activities that are happening on the floor.
After the factory viewing, the last part of the tour is the flavor lab, where you’ll learn about the flavor of ice cream available for sampling. The tour is a total of around 30 minutes.
After the tour, if you’re still hungry for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, there is an ice cream shop with many flavors to choose. If it’s warmer weather, tables are available outside to enjoy your ice cream.
For kids, there’s a playground also located at the top of the hill. There are two sections to the playground. One section is a traditional play structure.
The other section of the playground has some unique structures for play.
