Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom is located close to Route 222 and Interstate 78 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Allentown is in eastern Pennsylvania, not far from the New Jersey border.
The park boasts a mixture of modern and classic flat rides, as well as several roller coasters. Wildwater Kingdom is their seasonal water park. There’s also a large kiddie area called Planet Snoopy.
Dorney Park Roller Coasters
Dorney Park’s newest coaster, which opened in Summer 2024, is called Iron Menace. There is a special, new section of the park for this coaster. It’s a dive coaster, which means it hangs on the edge of the first big drop for a few seconds before plummeting 152-feet at a 95 degree angle.
It’s notable that Iron Menace’s rider height requirement is only 48 inches. This is lower than most dive coasters, so it allows younger riders to experience the thrill.
Dorney Park is also home to several other coasters, include the famous Steel Force coaster and Talon, an inverted coaster at the front of the park. Hydra is another major coaster, which is a floorless coaster. Thunderhawk, the park’s classic wooden coaster from 1924, rounds out the park’s collection.
Planet Snoopy
Planet Snoopy is the children’s area with over a dozen rides catering to preschool and school-aged children. Rider height requirements can be found on Dorney’s website here.
Some of the favorite kiddie rides include small versions of the swings, monster trucks, helicopters, a Ferris wheel, and more. Note that Pre-K passes are available for children who are ages 3 to 5 for all of 2024. Check out the how to register for a pass here.
Wildwater Kingdom
Dorney Park tickets include access to the seasonal water park, called Wildwater Kingdom. The water park is quite large, including two wave pools, lazy river, a mat racer slide, several kiddie splash areas, and many tube and body slides.
There are plenty of areas for small children to play, including splash pads and small water slides. There’s also a family raft slide and young children may also enjoy the lazy river.
For older children, large tube slides and a mat racer, called Aqua Racer, add to the thrilling water fun. Many of the tube slides have steep drops at the end, giving some air time.
Wildwater Kingdom has double the wave fun with two wave pools. One of the pools is the size of a football field! The other pool is about two-thirds of the size, but also features geysers at the entrance for added water play.
Dining
All day dining passes are available, as well as single meal vouchers. Dorney Park is home to familiar eateries like Chickie’s & Pete’s, Cinnabon, Subway, Auntie Anne’s, as well as their own park foods. In the new Iron Menace area, check out the Iron Mill Grill & Bar for some nice outside seating and a variety of delicious options.
